There has been some discussion lately on McCain and whether he is a natural-born US citizen. The US Constitution says:
No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President;
If it's one thing I realize about national elections, is that the constitution won't get in the way. The 12th Amendment states:
The electors shall meet in their respective states and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves;When Bush and Cheney were running in 2000, both were residents of Texas. George Bush was Governor and Dick Cheney was running Halliburton out of Houston. Only by transferring his residency back to Wyoming was he able to get elected.
When I first read about this story in 2000, I knew then we were in trouble.
