Web Trend Map 2008
Information Architects Japan posted a Web Trend Map 2008 mapped on the Tokyo Subway system.
I found it via boingboing.net post.
This is a cool map, but it really doesn't convey the information in a good manner:
- Why is Skype, eBay, Paypal and Messenger on the same line?
- Why is Gawker, Adobe and IBM on the same line?
- It's great that Google is the downtown, by why is Flickr and Facebook closer to downtown than Google?
A better way to represent this information is categorize by website type (news, gaming, social networking, media, portal, etc) and/or use a tag cloud to 'connect the dots'.
I would then like to see what shows up downtown and what is considered to be in the suburbs.

Peeve; Something there is that doesn't love a wall
This morning on NPR's Morning Edition featured a story on stone walls in New England. The story was about old Stone Walls were in demand and some thieves have taken to steal whole walls. It was a good story until the writer started to quote Robert Frost's Mending Wall.
'Good fences make good neighbors.'
I'm not an English Major and don't claim to have a literary mind, but the whole view point of that poem to to make fun of the neighbor who savagely mindlessly builds up the wall even though there nothing there to capture or keep out between the neighbors. There is something about the nature of this wall that tries to bring it down.
If there was any quote that was truly taken out of context, it is that this poet Robert Frost said "Good Fences Make Good Neighbors". Can we please stop it?

Who needs Guitar Hero when you have a Ukulele?
South Park last night was about Guitar Hero. The scene below takes place at a Party in Denver.
Denver celebrities.
- Ron Zappolo is actually a anchor for the Fox 31 station. He was a sports anchor on channel four before he accepted an anchor position at Fox.
- Jake Jabs is the owner of American Furniture Warehouse. Television commercials for American Furniture warehouse often feature wild animals like tigers and lions.
- Tom Shane owns The Shane Company a diamond company.
- Jay Cutler plays quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He not to be confused with the Jay Cutler body builder.
